Things That Fly

I just finished
these two journal pages for the round robin journal group. This is for my friend Renee's book and the theme of her journal is "Things That Fly". This was a challenge because I really wanted to do something unexpected. I used The Wizard of Oz for inspiration. I remember loving how the movie went from sepia to vibrant color. I rarely draw or paint, so I really had
fun with this!

  1. Wonderful work Lisa! Your drawing and painting combine perfectly with your lettering.

  2. You've really captured a childlike quality to the rendering. That is so hard to pull off after formal art training.

  3. i love it!
    wow! who is reene?
    i'm from indonesia!

  4. I don't even know what to say....the movement you captured is amazing and I love the muted tones of the page on the left. There is depth, texture, light... That is hard to do with such few colors.

Thank you for taking a look. I appreciate your comments!
